Remember the Additional Costs

With all the excitement and adrenaline of buying or selling a home it's easy to forget the additional costs

  • Legal Fees
    Rates will vary from lawyer to lawyer, however they will search title to examine property. All disbursements are calculated by the lawyer.
  • Deposit
    A deposit, normally five to ten percent of the purchase price, will accompany the offer and will be held in trust by the listing broker and applied to the purchase price at the time of completion.
  • Survey
    A current survey will be required by your financial institution and lawyer to outline what you are buying.
  • Title Insurance
    Title insurance provides homeowners and lenders with no-fault protection against title risks inherent in real estate transactions. Learn more about title insurance.
  • Land Transfer Tax
    Required at closing. Calculations based on purchase price.
  • Home Inspection
    We all want peace of mind when making a large investment. Home inspections performed by qualified inspectors may just be one of the best investments you make.
  • And last but not least, don't forget to add your moving expenses into the equation.
